OxyBand Technologies Signs Army Contract

SAN FRANCISCO, May 9 /PRNewswire/ — OxyBand Technologies, Inc. todayannounced that it has signed a contract with the United States Army toevaluate the company’s patented cutting edge wound healing technology forbattlefield and other military wounds. OxyBand Technologies has developed aproprietary wound dressing that delivers pure oxygen gas into wounds forfaster healing. The OxyBand dressing has been shown in clinical trials toaccelerate healing and, in laboratory testing, to reduce bacteria forinfection. The OxyBand Wound Dressing has received FDA 510(k) clearance forboth prescription (Rx) and over the counter (OTC) marketing.

OxyBand Technologies has developed a proprietary technology forpackaging pure oxygen into a discrete wound dressing using directionallypermeable gas- emitting reservoirs. The resulting dressing has been shownin randomized, controlled double-blind trials to significantly acceleratewound healing, reduce inflammation, redness and pain through the direct andsustained application of pure oxygen over several days.

Funding under this new Army contract is for an evaluation of OxyBanddressings for accelerated healing of battlefield and other wounds, which isof concern to the U.S. military. OxyBand anticipates beginning work underthe contract with the United States Army Medical Research and MaterialCommand (USAMRMC) immediately. The clinical study evaluating OxyBandDressings will be conducted at the United States Army Institute forSurgical Research, (USAISR) which is a part of the USAMRMC and isco-located with Brooke Army Medical Center.
