5 Easy Stress Relief Tips
July 17th, 2008 | by admin |
Stress happens for a reason, whether it be good or bad. Stress happens during certain events in life, could also happen due to work, outside reasons, family and private issues. Basically stress happens when a challenge arises and our bodies respond as if we are in danger, creating hormones that increase heart rate, make us breath faster and have a burst of energy. Sometimes stress can be a good thing and used as a motivator to win a sport, meet a goal or get work done. Stress can also be very unhealthy though. A good example is financial, I know a lot of people who are always in debt or worried they can’t make their next rent or car payment, in return they are left with stress. Most of these people cope with their stress through smoking cigarettes, and yes they admitted this to me. Myself I do not smoke, but I have found some sure ways that are to help deal with stress. The list I am going to share here has helped me get through stress. Its just not right to let stress control you and your actions, so of course everyone should de stress and feel something more than a gray cloud of rain over their head.
Here is a detailed list that everyone can use
1) Write - Do you keep a journal/diary? Perhaps you write poetry for fun? I love to write, I have no active journal at current, but I love to write poetry. In poetry I can release all my feelings any way I want. I find this is a great way to lose some stress and it’s a healthy way.
2) Do Something Active - This doesn’t have to mean doing a group sport, just something that gets you going. Positive things to do would be: going for a long leisurely walk, swimming, stretching exercises, yoga, skating even rollerblading and snow boarding. It should be something you enjoy or want to try. This way you are being active and putting your attention to the activity and not the stress.
3) Music - Turn on some music you really enjoy and just dance away. If you do not like dancing then you could sing or just sit and listen. A good idea though is to listen to music with a beat or something that will not make your mood worse.
4) Video Games - This is a great way to let go of negative stress, more so if you like video games. I prefer to use fighting games or racing games to relief my stress. This way you put your mind on something else for the time being. If you do not like video games then there always is board games or puzzles.
5) Talk to someone - If you have a trustful friend or relative then talk to them about it. It is not good to keep emotions bottled up, after talking to someone about your problem, you might feel better. This way someone at least listened to you and possibly gave you some advice to follow.
I use just these tips most of the time to relieve stress in my life and it works. Everyone is different though these tips are not for everyone. The best thing to do though is do something that is healthy and enjoyable for you. This won’t get rid of stress forever, but it will help you to cope and not feel like a dead depressed zombie.
