Earth Therapeutics Anti-stress Sinus Pillow is a soft pillow-like mask that can be used over the eyes to relieve puffiness or eyestrain or on the forehead to relieve the pain of sinus and headache. It has a removable insert which is filled with chamomile and lavender. This insert can be used heated, chilled, or just as is. The outside covering is a yummy mint color of 100% cotton and it’s washable. The adjustable headstrap fits any head size.
Having taught yoga in the past I’ve used many types of eye coverings during deep relaxation or meditation but I find this mask particularly comfortable. It seems to be the perfect weight for relieving tension and stress , adding just the right amount of pressure over the eyelids. Thanks to the elastic bands which go around the head, it stays comfortably in place.
The Earth Therapeutics anti-stress Sinus Pillow can be heated in the microwave. Placing it heated on the forehead is particularly soothing for sinus headaches as the moist heat helps to open the sinus passages and, as mentioned above, it’s a wonderful stress reliever. (It’s recommended by the company to heat it in increments of 30 seconds and for no more than one minute. Also it is recommended not to use it heated over the eyes) For those days when your eyes seem puffy or during the allergy season when they are particularly irritated, placing the cooled Earth Therapeutics anti-Stress Pillow over the eyes feels particularly, soothing and beneficial.
I would not want to use it for nighttime sleeping in order to block out the light, however, (see my review on Sleep Mask Comparisons) as I would find the weight and shifting of the mask cumbersome when moving about during sleep. However I find the weight of the Anti-stress pillow great when I am lying perfectly still during afternoon catnaps, meditation, or as mentioned above, deep relaxation.
It is recommended that one wash the covering once in a while and as it goes on the face one would naturally wish to do this. The company states on the package it is environmental caring, no testing on animals, and recycling is encouraged. Hooray for Earth Therapeutics.
