August 1st, 2008 | by admin |Wound Care Innovations, LLC, a subsidiary of Wound Management Technologies, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: WNDM), announced an evidence based study with a NE podiatric clinic evaluating the clinical performance of their advanced wound care collagen product, CellerateRx(R), on diabetic venous ulcers. “According to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, diabetes now affects nearly 24 million people in the United States alone,” states Cathy Bradshaw, President of Wound Care Innovations. Venous stasis ulcers of the lower extremity is a common problem among diabetic patients and presents significant quality of life issues for them as well as tremendous costs to the healthcare system. It has been estimated that venous ulcers cause the loss of approximately 2 million working days and incur treatment costs of approximately $3 billion per year in the United States.(1) “We have had very positive feedback from clinicians using CellerateRx(R) on these types of wounds.
