Spanish, Latin American NGOs Sign Declaration Urging Governments To Prioritize Efforts To Fight HIV/AIDS
August 12th, 2008 | by admin |At the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City on Wednesday, more than 30 nongovernmental organizations from Spain and Latin America signed a declaration calling on governments in Latin America to increase efforts to fight HIV/AIDS, Xinhua/People’s Daily reports. The declaration calls on governments to prioritize HIV/AIDS in ties between Spain and Latin American countries.
Joan Tallada of the Latin America and the Caribbean Council of AIDS Services Organization said, “We ask the governments of the region to place the HIV/AIDS issue as a priority in their political agendas” (Xinhua/People’s Daily, 8/7).
